Long before it became Manistique Sands, The Breakers Motel welcomed travelers along US-2. What began as a modest roadside motor lodge grew alongside tourism in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, evolving through the decades while remaining a familiar stop along the way.

What began as a single-story motor lodge grew to include a second story and heated indoor pool in the 1970s. Over the decades, the property continued to evolve, embracing a more nature-inspired character shaped by its lakefront setting. Today, refreshed accommodations, locally inspired artwork, and modern finishes carry that connection to the landscape forward.

Manistique Sands continues to grow with plans for additional lakeside accommodations, expanded dining, and new wellness amenities, including a sauna and cold plunge. Each addition is designed to create even more ways to enjoy time along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
